Ford Model A Pickup Restoration April 2016

The cleanup of my garage is not finished yet, but some accessories do have a higher priority at the moment. I need these things in order to drive longer distances with my Model A.

First, I need a customized tool box, containing everything I need for repairing the car should it quit working … I don't have much space and therefore I made a 1:1 cardboard model. It should have enough space for a jack, a foot pump and other spare parts and tools. I did not use the original jack and pump, since they do not fit into my box.

At one end I'll mount small wheels, but first I must cut the wholes into the ground plate.

Before I continue my work, I have to test if it is functioning as planned. With the wheel side ahead, I can easily push the tool box into the trunk.

It fits and I can continue with the layout and placement of the (larger) tools.

After endless tests, I finally found a solution, where everything can be closely packed.

And this is how it looks. Above are foot pump and jack together with the cranks and on the right hand side are distributor, ignition coil and other spare parts.

The whole tool box is disassembled and the finish is made.

Now I can apply one coat of primer and then two coats of glaze. Unfortunately, all parts are still wet, so you will see the final result next month. Then you will see also my beautiful aluminum lid with a special imprint - surprise!

Now I will continue with my holder for the navigation device (mobile phone). The part is made from 2 mm aluminum.

Mounted on my quick release, you can see for what the device is planned. I want to use my mobile phone holder in my Ford Model A ('Kenu' brand).

The 2 mm aluminum has just the right thickness, so that the 'Kenu' holder can be attached.

The bent edges on both sides secure the holder from slipping to one side.

And finally it can be attached to my dashboard. The Velcro is used to fix my bike GPS speedometer in case of short well known routes, the mobile phone holder will be used for longer distances :-)
