Ford Model A Pickup Restoration March 2018

As already announced, I have started the reconstruction of my old self made mobile column.

That's how my old version looked like. The forks on both sides are looking downwards, which still works on cars without sports suspension but when the car is lower, you will hit the oil pan or the suspension parts. Therefore, I grind all welds and weld the arms in horizontal position.

All parts are separated with a grinder.

Here they are already shortened to the right length and ready for welding.

Now it's ready for a first test.

I've calculated everything and now I will see whether everything fits.

According to my calculations, the car must first stand on a 10 cm high ramp (I'll make that later). Then I can move the jack under the car and mount the long round steel forks on each side of the wheels. So far, it is looking good and I have just 1-2 inches of air when I'm just before lifting the wheel.

Everything fits from the other side as well. Unfortunately, I can not lift the car yet, as I still have to make a clip between the jack and my column, which secures them against twisting. More details will follow next month.
