Ford Model A Pickup Restoration January 2014

Last year I could not finish the floor panels yet and this work I had to do now in January.

The fitting of the remaining third board was not easy, I had to make it fit step by step.

The old board could not be used as a template since it did not fit properly either.

You will see later why I have milled these complicated shapes. The reason for that is that I need some space to run my cables through which will lead to the (of course hidden) dashboard.

For bending the aluminum sheet I fix it on the wood.

These openings will be cut out later. The easiest way is to do it with a fretsaw and a very fine blade.

Both sides are not bent yet.

I do remove the aluminum until the wood is primed and varnished.

The spacers are mounted.

At the front floor board I had to fit a shroud and to mount the footrest.

As you can see, I was stopped in my work due to bad quality of the reproduction part. I'll restore now the old part and insert a new rubber.

This is the location where the part is mounted later, right next to the gas pedal.

On the big floor board I had to fit this part.

Finally only the two covers on the A-pillar are missing.

After 4 unsuccessful attempts …

… I did it - 2 pieces which do fit.

I'm not completely finished with the floor board, but everything is cut, folded, and most important, it fits.

I started now with priming the wood.

Last year we had the first 'GP Furttal' on June 30th 2013 and I found time to cut that video. It took place in the Furttal valley located between Zurich and Baden (Switzerland) and was a show race with vintage race cars, sports car and also motorbikes. Have a look at 'GP Furttal' 2013
